Pique-nique and Dub-Stuy present Grounation @ Public Records, Brooklyn

August 11 @ 4:00 pm

An undisputed classic of Rastafarian-inspired music, “Grounation” is a 1972 album by Count Ossie and The Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari. Combining Rastafari consciousness with deep spiritual jazz, the album is a definitive cultural statement of its time and place.

This event will celebrate the album while recreating a Rasta grounation, or gathering, featuring IMRiddim, TOUCH A DRUM, Autarchii, JonnyGo Figure, EDICA+, Anant Pradhan, Takuya Nakamura, Currincyaudio, Troy “Mobius” Simms, Nikhil Yerawadekar, and many more.

Expanding on Pique-nique’s “Take Two” deep-listening series, the afternoon will consist of an uninterrupted playback of “Grounation” followed by a live reinterpretation by IMRiddim and TOUCH A DRUM. Dub-Stuy DJs EDICA+ and JonnyGo Figure will connect the dots between Ossie’s roots reggae and Takuya Nakamura’s Cosmic Jungle live project, which will close out the night.
