Justin Robinson Quartet @ Smalls, NYC

World-class alto saxophonist Justin Robinson first picked up the instrument at age 13, and honed his craft at New York’s High School of Music and Art (LaGuardia High School). Influenced by the legacies of Charlie Parker and Jackie McLean, he developed a distinctive unique sound that has made him a vital collaborator for eminent artists including the Harper Brothers, Abbey Lincoln, Diana Ross, Little Jimmy Scott, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Band to name a few. Robinson is widely recognized for his essential work within both the Roy Hargrove Quintet and the Roy Hargrove Big Band. His most recent album At First Light on WJ3 Records has received glowing reviews and can be heard on all digital platforms.
