Coltrane X2: Giant Steps and Blue Train @ Copely Symphony Hall, San Diego

For the first time ever, Jazz @ The Jacobs will feature two classic and iconic jazz albums, Giant Steps and Blue Train, played top to bottom, in one memorable evening – all in tribute to saxophone master John Coltrane. The evening will feature some of the most challenging tunes in the jazz repertoire, executed by a group of today’s most accomplished jazz musicians, hand-picked by series curator Gilbert Castellanos. Gilbert Castellanos – trumpet, Danton Boller – bass, Donald Vega – piano,  Joel Fram – tenor saxophone, Marvin Smitty Smith – drums.

Danton Boller Quartet @ Smalls, NYC

After a career of sideman duties as bassist with top bands such as the Roy Hargrove Quintet, Bridget Everett, Seamus Blake Quartet, Elysian Fields, and Ari Hoenig’s Punk Bop, Danton leads his own group in search of a new musical dimension with his original compositions and arrangements.                                                   

On this special night, Danton will celebrate the soon to be released new single “Where Do We Go From Here?” with fellow Roy Hargrove Quintet alumni: Justin Robinson – alto saxophone, Tadataka Unno – piano, Danton Boller – bass and Jeremy Carlstedt – drums! 7pm-10pm
